As I was driving on the highway one day, the traffic suddenly began to slow down. As I looked ahead, I could see the flashing lights of emergency vehicles. I also noticed the brake lights of the many cars ahead of me. As my mind made sense of the scene, I realized that I may be stuck in traffic for a while. Apparently, many other drivers realized this as well. Naturally, when this happens drivers will try to find an exit so that they can turn around or find another way around the traffic incident. Unfortunately, in this situation, there wasn’t enough time to exit before you realized there was a traffic incident. So this meant that everyone had to wait until the traffic incident was clear. I actually saw something that I had never seen before as I approached the incident. Drivers actually did a u-turn and went the wrong way down a ramp in order to avoid having to wait for the traffic incident to clear. I’ll admit that I thought about it for a second and then I decided that it was a crazy idea. However, I witnessed about 20 drivers make that decision. I believed that I would be stuck in traffic for a while. I was surprised to find out that the wait was not long. I never came to a complete stop as I was going through. It’s a great thing that I didn’t choose to go the wrong way because it would’ve taken me longer to get where I was going.
On the highway of life, we face similar situations. We use the highway of life to reach our destination. Our destinations represents our vision of success. For example, if you want to become a doctor, there is a certain highway you have to take if you want to arrive at your destination. If you want to be a professional athlete, your highway is different. Everyone has a certain path that they must travel to reach their dream and it is not always a smooth and uneventful trip. At times, there are unforeseen incidents that delay our arrival. As you travel the Highway of Life, it can be tempting to pull a u-turn and get off to go the wrong way. However, if you do this, you may regret this decision for a long time. Often, the delays are temporary and just a test of your persistence. When things get tough think about this situation. Stay the course and don’t go the wrong.
