It is amazing how the small things can make a big difference sometimes. It is possible to be counted tardy by entering the class just one second after the bell rings. It is also possible to miss a B just by one point. When a race is too close to call by the naked eye, we call that a photo finish. It’s called a photo finish because the judges actually look at the photo to determine who crossed the finish line first. Small things such as the tip of a nose, a finger, or forehead have won a race.
As a student, you must realize the importance of the small things. With the advancements in technology and all of the other distractions in life, it is increasingly difficult for teens to pay attention to the small details. However, what you don’t know or what you ignore can harm you. There are plenty of people who wanted to go to college, but never made it because they didn’t respect the small things. Many people don’t see their dreams come true because of the small things. Over time, these small things add up to a huge problem. The small things are the tasks that you can get away not doing. For example, reading only a portion of a novel, completing your reading journal and getting full points is an example of a small thing. Sure, you received full credit, but the shortcut represents a small thing that can harm you later. What small things in your life are you ignoring?
