I would bet you a million dollars that I don’t have that you cannot hold your breath forever. No one can hold their breath forever! Oxygen is something that everyone needs to live. I believe that we take oxygen for granted because it is invisible and it is free. But if you were ever to be without oxygen, you would be willing to pay or sacrifice anything in order to have it. It would be the only thing on your mind. Oxygen and Respect are similar.
Respect: a feeling of understanding that someone or something is important and should be treated in an appropriate way.
Everyone deserves respect just as everyone deserves to breathe in clean oxygen. It’s just that simple. Unfortunately, there are students around the country, your state, and in your school who seeking respect. How does that make you feel? What is is your reaction when you notice that someone is being deprived of respect? Is your reaction as immediate as if someone was being deprived of oxygen? Oxygen and Respect are similar.
The reason a student may feel a lack of respect is because no one does anything or assumes someone else will. YOU can be of great assistance to one of your fellow students who is in desperate need of respect by their peers. Talk with your teachers and like minded peers who can help you develop a plan to make sure that all students feel respected and accepted.
