To be successful in football, everybody on the team has to be in the proper position. This is very important because once the ball is snapped all 11 players have certain expectations about who is going to be where. They have these expectations because their coach put a plan in place. Their coach has instructed them to learn and be in the proper position. In this context the word position means “proper place occupied.” According to the coach’s plan, if all 11 players occupy their assigned space, the team will be successful and win.
In life, we must be in the proper position in order to be successful. Successful people NEVER sit back and wait for something to happen. Successful people make things happen. However, there are times when things seem very difficult for even the most successful people in the world. Even though things change, it will always be true that if you remain in the proper position, you will find success. And now the question is — How does that relate to you? I’ve heard many students state that they have never been good at social studies. The problem is that constantly repeating this will only ensure that it remains true. You can’t outperform your expectations. However, it is possible to reposition yourself for success in social studies. In order to do this you have to accept the fact that change may not happen overnight. You also have to be willing to increase your effort. Lastly, you need to do whatever your coach asks you to do. In this case, your coach can be your teacher or any other adult who would like to help you get in the right position. So when you are not successful, ask yourself—Are you in position for success?
